Bioscud Advances: AI and Air Quality Monitoring to Protect Workers' Health

New sensing capabilities strengthen the Bioscud AI platform, enabling more comprehensive air quality monitoring and occupational health protection in high-risk industrial environments.
25 June 2025 - We are pleased to announce a new integration that further enhances Bioscud, the Artificial Intelligence platform designed to monitor environmental conditions and support workers' health and safety, making the detection of airborne substances more comprehensive and effective, even in environments presenting significant occupational health risks.
The Omnia monitoring device, developed and manufactured by Intellìge – a startup controlled by Sapiens Analytics that has developed patented air quality analysis technology – can now detect an even broader range of airborne pollutants.
Through integrated sensors, customised and selected according to the specific requirements of each operating environment, Omnia can monitor substances including ammonia, zinc oxide, ethanol and many others.
This integration further strengthens Bioscud's ability to identify potentially adverse health conditions and emerging trends affecting individual and collective wellbeing, correlating environmental data with personal health indicators collected through advanced, next-generation smartwatches.
Industrial Indoor Air Quality: A Critical Factor in Workplace Safety
The chemical and petrochemical, textile, wood processing, paper manufacturing, construction and food processing industries are just some of the sectors where indoor air quality can represent a significant occupational health risk.
Industrial indoor air pollution results from the complex interaction of manufacturing practices, production processes and operational activities carried out within industrial facilities, all of which can contribute to deteriorating air quality.
The main sources of potentially hazardous airborne substances in industrial workplaces include:
Industrial manufacturing processes:Â including mechanical processing, metalworking, the handling of hazardous materials and chemical manufacturing, which can release potentially harmful substances into the surrounding environment.
The use of chemical products:Â solvents and other chemical agents can release harmful vapours, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), fine particulate matter and other airborne pollutants.
Industrial emissions:Â activities such as waste management, fuel combustion for electricity or heat generation, and the operation of high-temperature machinery can contribute to the release of hazardous substances into the workplace atmosphere.
These processes can generate harmful vapours and gases, including nitrogen dioxide, carbon monoxide, sulphur oxides and particulate matter, which may have a range of adverse effects on workers' health.
Prolonged exposure to hazardous airborne substances can contribute to respiratory problems, irritation of the eyes, throat and skin, headaches, fatigue and nausea.
Exposure may also aggravate pre-existing conditions such as asthma and allergies, while certain industrial pollutants have been associated with neurological and cardiovascular disorders.
For organisations operating in these environments, continuous industrial air quality monitoring is therefore an important component of effective occupational health and safety management.
Bioscud: AI-Powered Air Quality Monitoring for Occupational Health
The Bioscud Artificial Intelligence platform supports a proactive approach to workplace health protection by combining environmental monitoring with the analysis of individual health indicators.
Through the integration of the enhanced Omnia air quality monitoring device, businesses can gain more detailed insights into airborne pollutants and environmental conditions within their facilities.
By correlating indoor air quality data with information collected through wearable technologies, Bioscud aims to identify potentially harmful conditions and detect emerging patterns that could affect workers' health.
These capabilities enable organisations to strengthen their approach to occupational health risk prevention, supporting more informed decisions and targeted interventions based on the actual conditions of the working environment.
The expanded detection capabilities introduced through Omnia represent a further step in the development of AI-powered workplace safety solutions, helping businesses improve environmental monitoring and adopt more precise, data-driven prevention strategies.
Towards More Intelligent and Preventive Workplace Health Management
With its new air pollutant detection capabilities, Bioscud further strengthens its role in supporting industrial organisations seeking to improve both environmental monitoring and occupational health protection.
By integrating Artificial Intelligence, advanced air quality sensors and wearable technologies, the platform provides businesses with tools to better understand the relationship between workplace environmental conditions and potential health risks.
This approach supports a transition towards more continuous, preventive and targeted workplace health management, particularly in industrial sectors where exposure to airborne pollutants represents a significant operational challenge.
