SIATE Project Enters Development Phase: AI, Telemedicine and Preventive Care for Older People
Aggiornamento: 1 giorno fa

The €1 million SIATE project brings together Artificial Intelligence, remote health monitoring and integrated home care services to improve the quality of life of older people.
SIATE, an innovative project submitted by CNS – Consorzio Nazionale Servizi, has secured funding through a competitive call launched by BI-REX, the Competence Centre established by Italy's Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy, specialising in Big Data technologies.
Following the launch of initial activities in December, the project has now entered its full development phase.
With a total value of €1 million, SIATE aims to develop an integrated home care system for older people, combining advanced digital technologies with comprehensive, efficient and accessible care services.
AI and Telemedicine for Integrated Elderly Home Care
The project focuses on developing a new model of AI-powered home care, integrating continuous monitoring, personalised care services and digital health technologies.
Its principal objectives include:
Continuous health monitoring and profiling:Â collecting and analysing information to support a more comprehensive understanding of older people's health conditions and care requirements.
Integrated home care and facility management:Â combining personal assistance with services designed to support the management and maintenance of domestic environments.
Telemedicine and remote support:Â enabling access to healthcare assistance and support services through digital technologies.
Age-friendly digital services:Â developing an accessible platform designed to overcome the generational digital divide and facilitate the adoption of telemedicine among older people.
Through this integrated approach, SIATE aims to strengthen preventive healthcare, independent living and the quality of home care services, responding to the evolving needs of an ageing population.
Sapiens Analytics Develops the SIATE Artificial Intelligence Platform
Sapiens Analytics is responsible for collecting field data and developing the project's Artificial Intelligence platform, a central component of the integrated home care system.
By combining smart sensors, continuous health monitoring and AI-powered data analysis, the platform is designed to support the development of new home care services for older people.
The system will enable ongoing monitoring of relevant health indicators, helping care providers and caregivers gain a more detailed understanding of individual conditions and identify potential changes over time.
Through predictive analytics, SIATE aims to support more informed assessments of care requirements, complementing traditional evaluation methods with insights derived from continuously collected data.
This approach represents an important step towards more proactive, personalised and data-driven elderly care.
Collaborative Innovation for Sustainable Social and Healthcare Services
Luigi Zucchelli, Director of Integrated Technical Services and Development at CNS, commented:
"This is an important project for CNS, as demonstrated by the score it achieved in the funding selection process. Our challenge will increasingly be to integrate expertise, innovate our service offering and create new opportunities for our members.
We need to understand social needs and develop new responses, taking into account the impact generated within communities and local areas, as well as sustainability. Our cooperative nature is the added value that will enable us to achieve the objectives we have set ourselves."
Riz Zigliani, Strategic Manager at Sapiens Analytics, stated:
"We are delighted to be a driving force behind this ambitious project, which has the potential to make a tangible difference to older people's quality of life.
Western populations are ageing progressively, creating an urgent need for practical and effective responses to emerging requirements. Thanks to the SIATE Artificial Intelligence platform, older people and their caregivers will be able to benefit from predictive assessments that go beyond traditional evaluation criteria."
A Network of Partners for Innovation in Elderly Care
Alongside Sapiens Analytics, the SIATE project brings together CNS members and a network of specialist organisations, participating as partners or suppliers.
The organisations involved include Kell, Rete Umana Persone, Teleconsys, the University of Bologna, Cadiai, Sintesi Minerva, Coop Gea and Gruppo Pragma.
The University of Bologna contributes expertise from its departments and specialist areas in Computer Engineering, Management Engineering and Geriatrics, supporting the project's multidisciplinary approach.
By combining expertise in Artificial Intelligence, healthcare, social services and digital technologies, the partnership aims to develop an integrated model capable of responding to the changing requirements of elderly care.
Towards More Predictive and Accessible Home Care
The development of SIATE reflects the growing importance of Artificial Intelligence and telemedicine in elderly care, particularly as healthcare and social support systems respond to demographic change.
Through continuous monitoring, predictive analytics and integrated digital services, the project aims to improve the coordination of home care, support caregivers and help older people maintain greater independence.
With Sapiens Analytics leading the development of its AI platform, SIATE represents a collaborative approach to healthcare innovation, combining technological expertise with a focus on accessibility, prevention and quality of life.
